This presentation was developed by Susan Hare, Troop 390, San Jose, to help counselors assist scouts in earning requirements 1, 2, 3 of the Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge. It was used in the field at the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge (the Refuge) in the San Francisco Bay Area–a salt water marsh and upland meadow habitat. Councilors are encouraged to customize this presentation to represent the terrain and soil issues in their locale.
Designed as a flipbook for use in the field, this PowerPoint presentation contains color slides and black & white notes. Print out the entire file and put the color and black and white pages back to back in a binder. The scouts should see the color images while the counselor has access to the notes.
