5 Steps to Earn a Merit Badge

  1. Get a blue card and fill in your name on all three parts, the name of the merit badge on all three parts, and your address where indicated.
  2. Ask a merit badge counselor to work with you.  If he/she agrees, hand over your blue card for the counselor to add his/her name, address, etc.
  3. Give your blue card to the appropriate Assistant Scoutmaster to sign and approve your work on the merit badge.
  4. Work with your counselor to complete the requirements. Blue Card
  5. Once you have completed all requirements, your counselor will sign and date your blue card, tear off the Counselor’s Record, and return the other two parts to you.  You turn in those other two parts to the Scoutmaster for his signature.
Congratulations! At the next court ofhonor, you will receive your merit badge.  Remember to keep your portion of the blue card and the card that comes with the merit badge.  You’ll need these items to become an Eagle Scout.
