In order to renew your BSA Adult Leader membership for 2011 (AKA “rechartering”) it is essential that you do the following:
1. Navigate to MyScouting on Scouting.org
2. If you have an account, login and navigate to “Update My Profile.” If you do not have an account, please create one.
3. Whether yours is a new account or old account, you must confirm the following–
4. Select Training, select eLearning. Review your training history for Boy Scout and/or Venturing. (You MUST have green dot(s) next to “Youth Protection Training.” If you do not, then you must take the on-line youth protection NOW. YES right now!
If you do have a green dot, select “View Certificate.” The certificate must show a date AFTER March 31, 2009. If the date is prior to March 31, 2009, you must retake the course even if you have a green dot(s).
The Green dot means you're half-way there. Select View Certificate and check the date.
We cannot renew the membership of any adult leader for 2011 unless your youth protection training is current as of March 31, 2009 for the program in which you participate (Boy Scout and/or Venturing) as reflected on the MyScouting website.
Why? ‘Cause that’s the rule. We are happy to accommodate anyone who desires a lengthly explanation on how the dates were derived, or our assessment of the overly complex rechartering process, or the history of scouting in the United States; however, unless you complete steps 1-4 as described above you will be dropped off our membership rolls.
